                                            2.1.3 Executive Summary

It was Amit's first month on the job as a marketing manager,
and he was already feeling overwhelmed. His boss had just
emailed him a lengthy research report to review the customer
engagement metrics. “Need you to take a look and brief me
on the highlights for our meeting tomorrow," the email read.
Amit opened the report and his heart sank. It was over 50
pages filled with dense data tables and technical jargon. There
Summaries in the was no way he could process it all by the next day. In a panic,
business world he called his mentor Azeem who had been at the company for
years. "What do I do? There's no way I can get through this
whole thing." Andre replied, “Don't worry, my friend. What
you need is an executive summary. Just focus on the big-
picture conclusions and recommendations. Get that down to
one or two pages max for the boss.” Amit followed his advice
and created a short but comprehensive executive summary.
His boss was thrilled with the high-level briefing and pleased
with Amit's sharp analysis. He realised that learning how to
distil the essence of a writing was critical to success in the
                                            business world.

Drawing out from the above context, let us define an
executive summary as a brief summary of a document.
Its length and content may vary based on the document it
summarises but usually, it ranges from one to two pages.
It provides clarity to various stakeholders, including cross-
functional collaborators and team leaders. It serves as a brief
